Leica 50mm f1.4 Summilux M Aspherical Silver
The optical structure of the LEICA SUMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH Black
- consists of eight lens in 5 groups.Glass with anomalous partial dispersion (elements 2/3) was used to ensure correct color rendition.
- Lens element 2 is made of a fluorite-type glass while lens element 3 is made from glass originating from the former Leitz glass laboratory.
- Lens element 4 has an aspherical surface. Lens elements 1, 6 and 7 are made of glass with a very high refractive index to minimize monochromatic aberrations.
- In all every innovation currently available in lens technology - aspherical lenses, glass with anomalous partial dispersion (APO), glass with a high refraction index and a floating element - has been combined to create a lens that will set new imaging standards.
The Leica SUMMILUX-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH Silver delivers virtually the same outstanding performance throughout all apertures and focus settings. Whether using selective focus at close range, high-contrast available light applications or an extended depth of field to capture landscapes, this lens handles every situation with ease.
Every innovation currently available in lens technology - aspherical lenses, glass with anomalous partial dispersion, glass with a high refraction index and a floating element - has been combined to create a lens that sets the new standard in this focal length class.
An extremely fast standard lens that is used a great deal in reportage photography. Its extraordinary speed of f/1.4 permits usable shutter speeds even in poor light situations.
This lens has been updated with the "6-bit" coding, which allows the digital M camera to read this information optically and to identify which lens is being used. The camera can then (optionally) apply a "final stage" software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made).
- Includes "6-bit code" which allows the digital M8 camera to identify which lens is being used, and also to store this information in image metadata
- High-speed, high-contrast normal lens for Leica's M series
- Finger focusing grip allows for one-finger focusing control
- Built-in, lockable telescoping lens hood
- Improved peak resolution over that of the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1
- Floating 2-element rear lens group retains consistent performance at closer shooting distances
- Just ~1% of maximum distortion (barrel type); nearly undetectable
- Dedicated collapsing hood
- Accepts E60 filters
- Lens mount's rear has 6-bit code allowing digital M-series cameras to identify lens and its characteristics
- Classic depth-of-field scale at rear of lens barrel
